Liverpool’s links Dusan Vlahovic acknowledges that a trade could happen “tomorrow,” after a 21-goal season at Fiorentina drew the interest of clubs all over Europe.
Despite spending most of the season staring over his shoulder at a relegation struggle, the 21-year-old has had an eye-catching season in Serie A. He has assisted in keeping the Viola out of risk, but it is unclear how long he will stay in Florence as demand for his services grows ahead of another recruiting window.
When asked about his potential prospects, with a growing list of suitors, Vlahovic told Meridian Sport: “You never know, it could happen the next day. Or maybe I’ll remain in Serie A for the rest of my career.”
The promising frontman had a late start to the 2020-21 season, only finding the mark once in his first 12 appearances.
The floodgates opened when we approached Christmas. And Vlahovic hasn’t gone more than three games without scoring since December 16. And the Serbian international is now sorry to see his breakout season come to an end.
“I’ll be honest, I’m sad it’s over now. However, I don’t believe anybody anticipated what I did. I’m just sorry we fought for protection for so long and didn’t get a better spot. I’m sorry my objectives didn’t help us meet our higher goals,” he said.
Vlahovic has been affiliated with a number of clubs around Europe, with competition surfacing in every big division.
It’s possible that he stays in Italy, either at Fiorentina or elsewhere. With the strong striker acknowledging that turning down an approach from fellow countryman Sinisa Mihajlovic at Bologna will be difficult.
“He’s a wonderful hero of Serbian and Italian football. It’s impossible to say no to Miha, but right now all I can think about is Fiorentina. We’ll have to wait to see what happens in the future,” Vlahovic said.
