The Everton midfielder’s injury continues

The nightmarish Everton career of Jean-Philippe Gbamin has started, with the midfielder sustaining a genuine Achilles injury during training.

The midfielder, who was marked in the nearby season from Mainz as Idrissa Gueye left for Paris Saint-Germain, made only two appearances in August for the Toffees before enduring a quadriceps injury in training.

An issue with the international rehabilitation of the Ivory Coast meant that medical procedure was required, with Gbamin nearing an arrival to full training when the Premier League was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It was affirmed on Thursday that Premier League shareholders agreed to continue the opposition behind closed doors on June 17, yet Gbamin won’t be part of Everton’s overlap for their remaining nine fixtures, with the club announcing the 24-year-old had sustained a genuine Achilles issue that looks set to keep him out for the remainder of 2020.

Everton is set to continue its campaign in the Merseyside derby against rivals and recently chose Premier League new Liverpool.

Earlier this week, following his past physical issue setback, Gbamin announced he was feeling fine and was getting a charge out of arrival to the training.

Gbamin will experience medical procedures one week from now and the club expects the Ivory Coast international to require a “broad rehabilitation period.”

After his move of £25million from German side Mainz in August 2019, the 24-year-old managed just two matches for Everton before being sidelined by the quad issue which required medical procedure in February.
