According to pundit and presenter Jim White on talkSPORT, any suitors who are keen on West Ham’s 21-year-old midfield anchor Declan Rice will have to cough up £ 100m.
The pair decided, speaking with former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, that the ball is very much in the court of the Hammers over how much they should quote Rice’s interested parties.
The 21-year-old has played no small part in helping them to get there with David Moyes’ side holding a Champions League spot. Hailed by his manager as an ‘outstanding’ leader, this season the youngster has played every Premier League minute for the Irons and is an integral defensive mainstay of the tactical strategy of Moyes.
Jordan is confident that conventional top six clubs will be interested in England globally, particularly Chelsea and Manchester United, but knows that West Ham has complete leverage over their star midfielder’s asset value.
“It will be fascinating to see what happens at the end of the season with Declan Rice. His results have been so good that suitors are going to be there. With capital, there will be suitors.
Then you’ll see how much pressure is placed on David Gold and David Sullivan if anyone is willing to write a check for £ 80 million, £ 90 million for this player.”
White then moved to say that the owners of West Ham value Declan Rice more than £ 100m, which would be worth more than £ 100m.
