Liverpool supporters were boosted by the sight of Virgil van Dijk and Diogo Jota being back on the training field on Wednesday.
After he suffered knee ligament damage during last October’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park due to a challenge from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Van Dijk’s absence goes back further.
Unlike Jota, Van Dijk’s return is not imminent, but he engaged in an individual outdoor session away from his team-mates and seemed to be in the good spirits shown by Liverpool.
Liverpool won four and played three of eight games with Van Dijk on the side this season, including an amazing 7-2 loss at Aston Villa.
