Timo Werner has been advised by Thomas Tuchel not to “overthink” his goal-scoring to regain form.
Werner scored 34 goals in 45 games for RB Leipzig last season. Because of his results, he was transferred to Chelsea last summer.
The Blues paid £47.5 million for the German forward as part of a large shopping spree. His first season in England has been a struggle.
This season, the attacker has only scored five goals in 28 Premier League games. Under Thomas Tuchel, his results have improved, but he continues to struggle for goals.
Werner also squandered a strong opportunity in Germany’s 2-1 loss to North Macedonia on Wednesday night.
According to talkSPORT, Tuchel reported ahead of Saturday’s game against West Brom that it is “only a matter of time” before Werner scores again:
“This guy has been scoring goals since he was five years old and has never stopped, so he can believe that his brain and body remember to do so because it is completely normal for him to score. So it will return; it is just a matter of time. However, it is much better said than done because right now is not the time for me to worry about it, learn about it, or even practice extra.
I brought him in from training yesterday because he decided to do some finishing with us. I just handed him in. I told him, ‘You don’t need that; your body and brain know how to score; you’ve been doing it since you were five years old, so don’t worry, it will come.'”
