Joan Laporta, the club’s new president, was previously the club’s president from 2003 to 2010. Joan Laporta, 58, has defeated Victor Font and Antoni Freixa in the race to be the next president of Barcelona.

In an exit poll conducted by Catalan television station TV3, Laporta was predicted to win with 58.3 percent of the vote over Font (31.3) and Freixa (9.3).

In the end, Laporta got 54.28 percent of the vote, which was similar to the final numbers (30,184 votes). A total of 51,983 votes were cast in the election.
