Spain Is Back To Training

News

La Liga has announced that in the week, Spain’s footballers are going back to figure the primary step during a month-long path towards returning to competition. The hope is that games within the First and Second Divisions could start in mid-June.

It’s not yet clear how the rivalry is going to be handled within the third tier down, with an idea currently in to play only a series of condensed play-offs featuring the highest four rather than any regular-season games.

Players on Spain’s top two football flights will return to training in the week hoping that the leagues will resume in June. Initially, they’re going to practice individually but at a later date, they’re going to introduce a “staggered return to training” with players practicing together.

The United Kingdom’s Premier League hopes to resume on June 8 but there’s a dispute between the clubs about the way to proceed. In Germany, teams trained in groups before a planned return to team training. The German league may start again on 16 or 23 May, the highest leagues in France, and therefore the Netherlands has already decided to not restart.

The step follows consultations and agreement with the health authorities and therefore the sports minister is in line with the government’s own four-phase strategy to lift the state of emergency imposed by the coronavirus crisis on 12 March. Each process would need to be approved by the govt and depends on a downward trend continuing on the figures concerning the disease.
