Ralf Rangnick was in line to become the next head coach of the club

The German tactician declined shortly to rule out the inheritance of the management reins in San Siro.

Former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick stated that Milan was in touch to debate his availability, within the wake of speculation that he was in line to become the subsequent head coach of the club.

For the Rossoneri, who sunk to 13th in Serie A under Marco Giampaolo after a weak start to the campaign, the 2019-20 season has been another tumultuous one. The 52-year-old was drafted in last June to succeed Genarro Gattuso within the hot seat but only lasted four months within the job before Stefano Pioli was replaced.

Results and results have improved since Pioli’s appointment, but Milan remains at the highest end of the Serie A table an extended way behind
their rivals.

The seven-time winners of the Champions League are not any longer an elite force, and because it stands, they face the likelihood of losing out on European football next year altogether.

In recent months, Rangnick has been closely aligned with the highest job at San Siro, having sculpted a sterling reputation in Germany over the past 20 years. The 61-year-old has led Schalke to the 2011 DFB Pokal and helped turn Leipzig into one among the Bundesliga’s top clubs.

Nonetheless, Rangnick acknowledged that he would be hospitable the likelihood of joining Milan and thus stated that talks with the Italian giants happened before the coronavirus of the season triggered the split. “I can’t rule it out. Milan asked me about my availability, I told Red Bull and my agent was in talks. “It was Rangnick who told Bild.

“The coronavirus outbreak came after the contact and more important problems emerged. Milan and therefore the Lega had other things to stress about.
