Stefano Pioli, Milan’s head coach, summarized the first leg of the Europa League 1/8 final against Manchester United (1-1).
“Our goal is to improve Milan and get them back on track. In that context, matches like this are the best, and I’m delighted to be playing against Manchester United,” Pioli told the UEFA official website.
“It was a nice game, and we’re pleased with the outcome, but we’ll have to do even better to beat such a strong team again. I keep telling the boys that I’m not coaching average players, but amazing players who give all they’ve got in every game. They’re incredible. We would have been content with a 1-1 draw before the game. However, we now realize that we should have done a better job.
This team has a great attitude, and we want to win every game. The way we play necessitates everyone’s undivided attention. Even though we play a lot of games, the guys never seem to relax. I don’t have enough praise for them.”
