According to Neymar’s former agent and ex-Barcelona scout Andre Cury, the Brazilian will be reunited with Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.
Cury served as Barcelona’s Brazilian scout for a decade and was instrumental in Neymar’s 2013 move to the Catalans.
After a fruitful relationship with Messi that saw Barcelona secure La Liga in 2014-15 and 2015-16, as well as three successive Copa del Rey championships, Neymar left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but Cury suggests the pair may be reunited.
Messi has been linked with moves away from Barcelona, including PSG and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, but Cury believes a reconciliation with the Catalans is likely.
“Two years ago, Neymar formally asked me to return to Barcelona; we tried and were very close to getting him out of Paris, but it didn’t happen due to details,” Cury told Argentine newspaper El Litoral.
“Laporta is the only one who will get them all together; Messi will not leave Barcelona; he has determined that his history is in Barcelona, and I am certain of that. Neymar will play alongside Messi again, but this time in Barcelona.”
The 29-year-old Brazilian international has had a fruitful three-and-a-half season in Paris, winning three Ligue 1 titles, several cups, and ending as the 2019-20 Champions League runner-up, amid injuries restricting his impact at times.
“Neymar has an open door at Barcelona; their fans know he made a mistake, and even he realized it later,” Cury said.
