After Kenedy scored one and set up another in just two minutes, Decimated Napoli needed a miracle to remain in the Europa League, giving Granada the 2-0 win.

Elmas volleyed over at the corner of the back post, but Granada created a lot of problems on the right with Kenedy and then Foulquier bursting into the box. It was a warning, but not heeded, because, after a couple of corners, the hosts took the lead. Kenedy curled a perfect ball to the back post for Yangel Herrera to delight Di Lorenzo with a header.

Barely 90 seconds later, Napoli had attempted to go on the offensive but was caught cold by a fast Darwin Machis counter, setting up Chelsea-owned Kenedy for the exact angled-drive daisy-cutter.

Mario Rui’s cross-shot shone just past both Osimhen and the far post, while an audacious Molina back-heel flick was charged down from six yards.

Lorenzo Insigne was not fit and Osimhen missed a chance when he hit the side netting rather than pulling back for his teammates.

Insigne scuffed a volley but was offside anyway, and Mario Rui was fortunate that Kenedy’s cross was tricky after trapping him in possession.
There were signs of life from Naples with the arrival of Piotr Zielinski, but international Poland fired over and Osimhen got a Fabian Ruiz by the ball on Elmas’ way.

The Partenopei took the initiative as the game went on, but again a lack of touch was costly, as Amir Rahmani nodded a free-kick over when Osimhen was supposed to save it.

With a reckless effort, Zielinski wasted another decent chance and Nikola Maksimovic made a decisive block on Antonio Puertas after a counter-attack.

Osimhen’s half-volley was too slow to beat Rui Silva on the turn from a dumped free-kick. Yet Napoli risked conceding a third in stops amid all their possession, Alex Meret getting down to palm Yangel Herrera’s effort around the base of the close post.
