Markus Krosche: Lukas is one of our absolute best performers


Germany’s international Lukas Klostermann agreed to an extension of his contract at RB Leipzig until June 2024, keeping him within the club.

Lukas Klostermann and RB Leipzig have signed a contract extension, the club has reported. The contract for the full-back had been thanks to run call at 2021, but it’s now been extended until the summer of 2024.

In 2014 the flexible defender joined Leipzig, after being elevated to the 2. Bundesliga and made 159 appearances for the side, scoring 11 goals and assisting 10 altogether competitions. Klostermann played under Julian Nagelsmann 33 times in 2019-20, helping them to end third within the Bundesliga – five points before Bayern Munich’s leaders – and therefore the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

“I’m pleased to possess renewed my deal at RB Leipzig and now there’s certainty about my future,” Klostermann said during a statement. “I feel very confident within the team and therefore the community, have always had confidence here, and became a senior international player here.”

Markus Krosche, director of sports, added: “Lukas is one among our very best performers, and despite being only 23 years old. he’s also a really accomplished player who has made tremendous progress with us thus far. “Klostermann made his national team debut with Serbia during a 1-1 attract March 2019.

Markus is extremely pleased that they need now extended the Lukas contract until 2024. Lukas is flexible in defense and provides many options. Lukas is extremely valuable to the team and therefore the team is extremely confident that he will increase his value and importance particularly to the team.”
