Marco Tronchetti Provera: “Pirelli Won’t Be Inter’s Shirt Sponsor Anymore”

Pirelli has been a sponsor of the Nerazzurri for almost three decades, but their latest deal will not be extended when it expires at the end of the season. Tronchetti Provera, speaking on Radio Rai today, reported that the parties will maintain some sort of relationship.

“We will maintain a bond with Inter; we will no longer be the shirt sponsor, but we will maintain a relationship,” he said on Rai’s ‘La Politica del Pallone’ broadcast.

Inter’s search for a new main shirt sponsor has been widely known for several months, and several Asian firms, including Evergrande Group and Hisense, have been associated with succeeding Pirelli.

Tronchetti Provera also addressed Inter’s owners, Suning, who sold a 23 percent stake in the club over the weekend to raise much-needed funds.

He insisted, “We must trust the official statements that have been made. Suning has obtained a capital infusion (from the sale of shares) for the holding firm that holds Inter.”

The organization has confirmed its commitment, and a normal route should be available; third-party proposals are also being considered. “It seems to me that their goal is to keep promoting Inter.”

Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta was also listed by Tronchetti Provera, who wished him a speedy recovery from COVID-19 after he and fellow directors Piero Ausilio and Alessandro Antonello tested positive last week.

He went on to say, “Marotta is a wonderful professional. Inter looks balanced in all departments and has a drive to win that makes them competitive until the last minute, which is a good sign,” the Pirelli CEO said of Inter’s on-pitch performance.

Romelu Lukaku is progressing match by match, he is more confident in his skills, and he has added a healthy nastiness that was initially lacking.

“He’s a goal scorer with a good assist game.“
