Paul Pogba will be sidelined for a further two weeks longer than originally planned with his latest thigh injury. Man Utd is concerned.

Because of the problem, the Frenchman has missed United’s last two fixtures and could be omitted from at least three more.

Pogba is almost likely to be ruled out of both legs of the last-32 tie of the United Europa League with Real Sociedad, beginning this week, according to the Mail.

He will also be sidelined for the clash against Newcastle next Sunday, although his return for the meeting at Chelsea the following weekend is not assured.

United is not putting a timeline on its recovery but is hoping that Pogba will play some role in the Stamford Bridge match.

The presence of Chelsea has again given extra value to the fixture in the top four, while United then faces rivals Man City six days later.

Since hobbling out of action in the game against Everton, Pogba’s absence has already been felt.

It took United extra time to find a way past West Ham in the FA Cup, and on Sunday they looked slow in their draw with West Brom’s relegation battlers.

Before the game at the Hawthorns, Solskjaer said, “We’ve done well without Paul but of course he’s been really good lately so we hope to get him back as soon as we can.”

The hopes of United mounting a title challenge are now hanging in the balance, and the presence of Pogba in the Chelsea and City fixtures would be vital to their chances.
