Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is eager to make the most of the chance that Gareth Southgate has offered him. Luke Shaw has shared his “massive apology” for previously withdrawing from England squads while the in-form left-back attempts to make up for a lost time.
Shaw thinks he may have squandered another chance to play for England and is ready to take the opportunity.
“My family [and I] had a few talks and felt that maybe I won’t be able to get back into it [the England squad]. But I always believed in myself and worked hard, and I’m thankful to Gareth for giving me another chance. Hopefully, I’ll be able to impress him and earn a place on the team. I had a few big regrets. I couldn’t get my mind off the mistakes I’d made in the past, especially with England. Around the time, I left a number of camps. Maybe several the best of health. I guess I’ve talked about it so often in the last two years that it’s my greatest mistake, along with letting Gareth down. I attempted to stay in contact with him to remind him that things had changed. He said that he chose me based on merit and how I’ve been doing. The past is the past, and hopefully, we’ve moved on and will reflect on the future, and I want to continue impressing him,” he told The Guardian.
