Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona cannot and should not be compared

According to Roberto Ayala, Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona cannot and will not be compared with a person who played both “Speedy Gonzalez” and “pure art” with the previous.

Ayala, who is currently a part of the coaching team of Lionel Scaloni with the national side of Argentina, is lucky enough to possess graced an equivalent side as two legendary countrymen during his distinguished play career.

The Argentine defender Ayala has also played for the national team and is currently a mentor within the country’s set-up under Lionel Scaloni, told Fox Sports, “I was playing for both of them and that I was taking my first steps for Diego. They’re two football legends, so when he retires, Messi is going to be remembered. I do not know if he’ll be like Diego, that’s not important.”

Ayala is reluctant to be drawn on his own comment, with the 47-year-old saying that two talismanic countrymen are too “different” to put on an equivalent list.

Through Argentina and domestic game Maradona ruled the earth through iconic spells with the likes of Boca Juniors and Napoli. While Messi has won the Ballon d’Or sixfold and broken countless records with Barcelona over the course of his career.

On a world basis, he’s always trying to find a primary senior title, with heartache enduring within the finals of Copa America and therefore the World Cup.

In all his mannerisms Diego was pure art, Messi a Speedy Gonzalez holding the ball two centimeters from his foot.
