In the face of ridicule, Jose Mourinho claims he is inspired by his ‘Mourinista’ fans around the world.
Mourinho has an illustrious managerial record, having won the Champions League with both Porto and Inter, as well as domestic trophies in Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain. However, the Portuguese have been chastised in recent years for their lack of results.
Spurs are currently sixth in the Premier League and out of Europe, and their conservative style of play has come under criticism.
Mourinho, on the other hand, is unconcerned because he has a sizable fan base around the world.
“Honestly, I get my power from myself, but also from the people I love and know love me, even though many of them I don’t know and haven’t met,” he said at a meeting with Tottenham’s club sponsors.
🗣"I get my strength from the people that I love and the people who love me. I have so many Mourinistas around the world and I play for them ."

“I used to refer to them as ‘Mourinistas,’ since in Portugal, we use ‘ista’ at the end of the name of the club we sponsor to show our enthusiasm. If you’re from Porto, you say Portista; if you’re from Benfica, you say Benficista; and if you’re from Mourinho, you say ‘Mourinista.’
“I have so many ‘Mourinistas’ all over the world with whom I play.”
When explaining the absurdity of public scrutiny, Spurs manager Gregg Popovich likened his coaching abilities to those of a NASA physicist.
“I don’t think anybody is going to explore rocket science with the guys from NASA, or with anybody else in the world,” Mourinho said.
“They say they should address football with one of the game’s most influential coaches. That is the allure of football.”
