After beating Atletico 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League 1/8 final, Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has shared his impressions.
“We came in to win the match with a strong aim, to play our game, we knew how to give them trouble. We’ve defended well and we’re very pleased with the victory,” Giroud told the BBC.
“It’s a deserved win. In European competitions, we know how important an away goal is, so I was happy to help the team win the match. We had a strong team in front of us, and I think we were concentrated and knew their strengths. We have to remain focused and finish what we have begun. We have been trusting in our strengths.
I didn’t know what to do with the target, I just concentrated on the shot, and I was glad to see the ball in the net. I had no idea of the outer location, and Mount said he didn’t hit the ball. Good for the squad, good for me, all right.”
