Rangers manager Steven Gerrard claims that Slavia’s Ondrej Kudela racially abused his team’s defender Glen Kamara during the Europa League 1/8 final match (0-2, first leg – 1-1).
Kudela turned to Kamara at the end of the game, shielding his mouth with his palm. This resulted in a pitch dispute.
“My player told me he was mocked based on his ethnicity. It’s disappointing that they’ve been protecting their player and branding us liars,” Gerrard told the BBC.
“I am furious. I know Glenn and have complete faith in him. This all started with a Slavia player; something has to be done soon, but it’s not up to me. Whatever happens, Glen has my full support.”
“I don’t want to worry about football right now. Now it’s up to UEFA, and I’m hoping they don’t close it down. Glen needed to get back into the game because he was upset.”
