Pep Guardiola predicts that Phil Foden’s game will increase 10-fold once Manchester City’s young attacking midfielder fully adapts to moving between small and central play.
Foden shone in a central position during last Wednesday’s 3-1 victory at Everton, but his manager is optimistic that there is still more to come from the 20-year-old England international, who has always dazzled on the wing this season but is expected to turn into a No 10 in the long run.
“Phil can play in both positions,” Guardiola said as he prepared, according to The Guardian, to take his Premier League leaders to Arsenal on Sunday.
“I’ve said that he’s too young many times. Phil only needs time to make it easier to play inside. You have to play at one tempo when you play as a winger and you have to play at another tempo when you play indoors. He would be ten times more exceptional as a player when he gets this balance. It is merely a matter of time.”
