According to agent Mino Raiola, Erling Haaland is strong enough to play for every club in the country. Since joining Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, the 21-year-old has thrived.
The Norwegian international has scored 49 goals in 49 games since making the move and is being pursued by the best teams in Europe.
Raiola believes Haaland will excel at the highest level and believes he should have gone directly to a top team rather than making the move to Dortmund.
“Everyone was mistaken about Haaland. He performed much better than everyone anticipated. Haaland is in control of his growth,” he told The Athletic about it.
“He’s way ahead of time. Maybe I was being too polite when I said, ‘Oh no, let’s move to Dortmund instead of I’m not sure where. This boy — I’m sure, and everyone else is — can move to any club, anywhere he likes, at this stage. And he should have done that last year as well. But maybe last year, teams were thinking, ‘Wow, he was in Red Bull, will he do that in another club? He outperforms his forecast. So, yes, Haaland is all the rage.
I have the benefit of 25 years of experience at this stage.” From an economic standpoint, I’ve changed the game many times. The sort of thing no longer piques my interest. I’m aware that I must wait. This is a time for the player to wait to see what is right for him.
When someone thinks he needs to pass, it is often in the player’s best interest not to. And there are occasions that it is in the best interests of the player to leave when someone insists he must stay. So we’ll have to wait to see what happens.”
Since his impressive success at Salzburg, Haaland has been linked with a move to several top European clubs.
