Del Piero on Ronaldo dropping the armband: “It’s too much for someone who is captain and an idol.”

Former Italy striker Alessandro Del Piero blasted Juventus and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s acts after he threw his captain’s armband on the pitch at the end of the 2-2 World Cup 2022 qualification match against Serbia.

“It’s an exaggeration. He shouldn’t have acted that way,” Del Piero told ESPN.

“Getting furious is usual, arguing in high tones with the stewards over such an incident is normal, but tossing the captain’s armband and walking away like that is too much for a guy who is a captain and an idol like Ronaldo.”
