Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick in Juventus’ 3-0 Serie A win over Spezia in Turin on Tuesday. After Alvaro Morata and Federico Chiesa had put the champions in command in the second half at the Allianz Stadium, the 36-year-old scored the game’s third goal.

With his clinical end, Ronaldo became the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to score at least 20 goals in each of the previous 12 seasons.

It was a special moment for the Portugal international, who was playing in his 600th league match, as he pushed two goals ahead of Inter’s Romelu Lukaku in the fight for the 2020-21 Serie A top scorer.

With 14 games left, the result took Juve back within seven points of league leaders Inter, and head coach Andrea Pirlo isn’t ready to give up on his team’s chances of winning their 10th title in a row.

He told Sky Sport Italia, “The difference is just the points that divide us.” “We’re aware that this will be a lengthy pursuit. Inter has been playing together for two years and has a well-drilled strategy, although we have only been together for a few months. We still plan to remain until the very end.”

Pirlo claims his team’s slow start against Spezia was due to “physical rather than psychological exhaustion,” adding, “It can happen when you play too many games with the same players.”

“We managed to keep the game under pressure, and when the fresh legs came on, we were stronger and better able to capitalize on our opportunities.”
