Chelsea is reportedly holding an eye on Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero’s potential. Thomas Tuchel’s side is searching for a new center-forward this summer and has been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. However, the Blues have been linked with Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to sign a new contract with Pep Guardiola’s side, and no negotiations for a new contract have taken place at the Etihad.
Chelsea, who have long admired Aguero since his days at Atletico Madrid before joining Manchester City, are now monitoring innovations’ alongside Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Mail.
Barcelona is still interested in the out-of-contract Argentine and has talked with Aguero about a future move.
Thanks to injury and sickness, Aguero has only made five appearances for City in all competitions this season, and he may be on the move in the summer after expressing dissatisfaction with his lack of chances in the City side. He needs to be in the Premier League next season regardless of whether or not he leaves Manchester City. But, can Chelsea and Tuchel seriously regard Aguero as a player who fits in with the youthful squad being formed at Stamford Bridge?
There’s no questioning Aguero’s talent, and if the Blues lose out on number one goal Haaland, could Aguero be a short-term solution before a new long-term alternative is found? Only time will tell.
