Bournemouth would like to talk to Thierry Henry about the role of their vacant manager as the Championship club seeks a Jason Tindall successor.

Bournemouth is ready to request permission from Montreal Impact to see if Henry will be interested in the post, despite already interviewing David Wagner and Patrick Vieira.

Wagner and Vieira had their second interviews this week and remain in the picture, but in a process that has taken two weeks so far, Henry has emerged as the new target.

It is expected that Arsenal legend Henry will hold talks if his Major League Soccer team, where he has been in charge since November 2019, permits him.

Ideally, Bournemouth would like to decide by the weekend, meaning that Henry is likely to have just one round of discussions about the post.

Until he first went into management with Monaco, Aston Villa targeted Henry, where he was sacked after only 20 matches during a time of upheaval at the Ligue 1 club.

Before joining Monaco, the 43-year-old also spent time in Belgium as Roberto Martinez’s assistant.

“Henry said in an exclusive interview with Telegraph Sport: “Call me nuts if you want to, but I love football and I think I can be a star.

For the Bournemouth role, John Terry is not thought to be in the picture, although former Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard is unlikely to return so easily to management.

Wagner, who secured Huddersfield’s Premier League promotion and kept them in the top flight for a second season, has been out of work since being sacked last year in September.

Following two years in charge at the French club, Vieira was sacked by Nice, having previously been in charge of New York City FC in the MLS.
