Bayern Munich faces mounting injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s match against Union Berlin. Hansi Flick was concerned that Niklas Sule will miss the Champions League’s second leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain. Read more on Bayern v/s PSG below.
Sule, Leon Goretzka, Lucas Hernandez, and Marc Roca will all miss Bayern’s return to Bundesliga competition this weekend.
Both defender Sule and midfielder Goretzka were injured in the first leg of the 3-2 quarter-final defeat to PSG, with the former a big doubt for the return match.
Leon Goretzka, Niklas Sule, Lucas Hernandez, and Marc Roca will all be unavailable. Niklas Sule and Leon Goretzka had musculoskeletal issues. Leon’s issues aren’t as serious as Niklas’s. As a result, Niklas would most likely miss the second leg against PSG as well. We must wait to see how things progress.
Marc was hospitalized during the game against Leipzig. He resumed training but was forced to stop. Lucas took a blow that had nothing to do with his abdominal muscle damage, but it was painful.
“We’re hoping Leon and Lucas will be able to join us in Paris,” Flick said.
Despite Bayern’s midweek loss in their Champions League title defense, Flick’s men lead the Bundesliga by seven points heading into the visit of seventh-placed Union Berlin.
Union kept the German champions to a 1-1 draw in December, and Flick anticipates another difficult challenge from Urs Fischer’s team.
“We want to beat Union but it will be tough. We will take workload into account as well, but three points are our top priority. I admire their attitude and how they play football. They move quickly and are dynamic. “The coach is doing an excellent job, and I want to see him again,” he said.
