According to Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski will be unable to join the Poland squad for their March 31 match against England. With the coronavirus pandemic still raging in Europe and infection rates rising in many nations, Bundesliga players returning from a “mutation environment” region will be forced to self-isolate for 14 days.
Lewandowski was set to play and captain Poland in a World Cup qualifier against England at the end of this month, but sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has announced that the 32-year-old would be unable to travel to the UK due to quarantine restrictions.
Salihamidzic told the German news outlet Sport-Informations-Dienst, “If the returnees from England have to go into quarantine, we would not be able to bring Lewandowski down.”
