It is reported that Atletico Madrid is planning to increase the salary of Thomas Partey, a midfielder, to secure his position in Arsenal.
In recent weeks after the impressive 2019-20 Wanda Metropolitano campaign, Ghana International has been closely linked with the move to the Emirates.
In reality, Partey has tallied up 35 starts for Diego Simeone’s side this season in all competitions and the La Liga club is expected to be willing to sign him a lucrative new contract to remain in the Spanish capital. Atletico has opened talks with Partey for a contract deal until the summer of 2025, according to The Guardian, which will see him gain £130,000 a week in Madrid.
The article also states that Arsenal are yet to give the 26-year-old a substantive contract, but the Gunners have already made contact with the player’s agent. At Atletico, Partey already has a €50 m (£43.6 m) escape clause, although that could equate to up to €100 m (£87.2 m) if it were to render fresh terms.
The Middleman has chalked up 15 goals in 174 Atletico games in all competitions since 2015
