After a promising start after joining on loan from Real Madrid in January, Arsenal is reportedly keen to extend Martin Odegaard’s stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Last week, the 22-year-old had a fantastic week for Arsenal, scoring a stunning goal in their Europa League win over Olympiacos and then netting a vital equalizer in their 2-1 North London Derby win over Tottenham.
Odegaard had not been a regular at Real Madrid and it would make sense for him to leave soon, with the Daily Mail reporting that Arsenal is interested in signing him permanently or extending his loan.
Arsenal may be helped by the fact that the Spanish giants may be willing to sell to fund a big-money move for Odegaard’s Norway international team-mate Erling Haaland, according to the article.
According to the Mail, Kylian Mbappe is one of their goals, and it appears that selling someone like Odegaard will help Los Blancos finance these Galactico purchases.
That will be good news for Arsenal, who will be hoping to be first in line if Odegaard is put up for sale.
Following the departure of Mesut Ozil in January, the Norwegian playmaker appears to be an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s side.
