Chelsea v/s Crystal Palace

Chelsea faces Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park later in the afternoon in their bid to reclaim a place in the Premier League’s top four.

The Blues have nearly a full team, with Thiago Silva likely to miss the game due to his red card in last weekend’s thrashing at the hands of West Brom.

N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic have returned from injury and could be included in Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup after coming off the bench in Wednesday’s Champions League victory over Porto.

Palace will be without Michy Batshuayi, who is ineligible to face his parent club, and will be joined on the sidelines by Connor Wickham, who suffered a minor knock during training.

Nathaniel Clyne (muscle), James Tomkins (eye), Mamadou Sakho (thigh), and James McArthur (calf) remain on the sidelines.

Roy Hodgson proud of his Selhurst Park tenure

Roy Hodgson looks forward to Crystal Palace’s match against Chelsea on Saturday. He won his first Premier League game as Palace boss against them in October 2017.

“I still think of it as my first outing, but it wasn’t; it was my fourth game,” he chuckles to Sky Sports. “It was just the first time we got a test, so I’m not concerned about the others.”

Hodgson might joke about it today, but Palace was in serious financial trouble at the moment. Frank de Boer’s stay had only lasted 77 days, and Hodgson’s had also begun inauspiciously. Palace remained at the bottom of the Premier League table, having failed to pick up a point or even a goal in seven games. “People were dismissing us,” Hodgson remembers.
