Bayern Munich v/s PSG: PSG defeated Bayern Munich (2:3) at home. The defeat took place in the first match of the Champions League quarter-finals. The game was gripping from the first whistle to the last. Bayern should have taken the lead straight away.
Choupo-Moting came in from the corner, but his shot was blocked by the crossbar! After a missed chance, Kylian Mbappe scored seconds later. Neymar headed in Mbappe’s strike after making a fast run down the right to the Frenchman, who beat Manuel Neuer with the first ball of the day.
The game’s tempo was unbeatably quick. Keylor Navas, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Thomas Mueller all had chances to equalize, but Keylor Navas had the upper hand in all cases.
The Home Team Error
PSG took advantage of another weakness in Die Roten in the 28th minute. Due to the home team’s defensive error, Marquinhos was left uncovered behind, and he was able to take Neymar’s well-timed pass and slot the ball between the posts without hesitation. Surprisingly, after the goal, the Brazilian requested a change, indicating an injury.
We had to wait until the 37th minute for Bayern’s first goal. Pavard then demonstrated a brilliant pass from the right flank, followed by an even better finish by Choupo-Moting. The Cameroonian scored with his head on the touch target.
The battle resumed at a frenetic pace after the sides switched. An equalizer was scored in the 60th minute. It was another accurate pass from the right. This time, it was Thomas Mueller who found the back of the net.
A few minutes later, the German got into an argument with one of the Parisian defenders. The hit to the head was followed by a cut and blood, necessitating a brief delay for the Bavarians’ star to avoid the bleeding and change his uniform.
Kylian Mbappe, on the other hand, had the final say in the game, outmuscling the Munich defenders in the 68th minute and deceiving the opponents’ defenders and goalkeeper with a superbly precise shot towards the near post, taking the score to 3-2.
Despite the large ranking, neither team relented. We were able to watch offensive football that was rife with positive opportunities. Visitors, on the other hand, capitulated less often. However, it was the hosts who attacked most often, with over 30 shots!
In the final minutes, the Bavarians became incredibly nervous. The Bavarians were exceptionally nervous in the final minutes, laying siege to Navas’ score, but were unable to secure a point.
The return leg, which takes place in Paris on April 13th, promises to be spectacular. It is almost inevitable that Robert Lewandowski will not play.
