Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi believes that France, Brazil, and England are favorites to win the World Cup. In Qatar, Argentina’s hopes will once more rest on the shoulders of the 35-year-old Paris Saint-Germain attacker as they attempt to win the South American nation’s third global championship but first since 1986. Argentina, the Copa America champions, have gone 35 games without losing, and if this is Lionel Messi’s final World Cup, they are in great shape to win it. “Every time we discuss candidates, the same teams come up. Erling Haaland of Manchester City wishes he could be in Qatar for the World Cup, but the 22-year-old attacker will use the break to rest up for the remainder of the Premier League season because Norway did not make the tournament. Following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to City in the off-season, Haaland has improved his standing as one of Europe’s finest attackers by scoring 18 goals in 13 league games and five goals in four Champions League games. However, Haaland will have to wait to add to his international tally of 21 goals because Norway only placed third in Group G of the European World Cup qualifying behind the Netherlands and Turkey.
