Borussia has come up with a deal to hold Jaden Sancho for another year in Dortmund, Bild announced.
The Yellow and Black are ready to give Sancho a contract extension with a salary of €10 million a season until the summer of 2022 making him the second-highest paying player on the squad behind Marco Reus.
Borussia hopes that Sancho will agree to stay, except for a massive deal, as he has formed an excellent friendship with Erling Holland, with whom he excels in the field and beyond.
This is bad news for Manchester United and Chelsea, who are planning to wage a big fight this summer for his signature.
Reportedly, according to The Sun, United negotiated with the player on all the terms of his deal, including bonuses and a condition of redemption, but got stuck in talks with Borussia.
The German club didn’t want to drop the price below €140 million, but it was ahead of the coronavirus crisis and too much won’t be able to get this summer if there is a deal at all, as Borussia gave Sancho very nice terms that he apparently will accept.
Borussia knows he can’t ask for €140 m for Sancho, so he is offering him a contract extension because next summer he reckons that English clubs will bid as much as the Germans want. It is why he needs to retain Sancho until 2022, so he won’t get into the situation of losing him in 2021 without compensation.
