Crysencio Summerville scored the winner to help Leeds produce one of the high-scoring football scores of the weekend in the Premier League. Summerville sprinted through the Bournemouth defense after being let in by substitute Wilfried Gnonto and calmly placed the ball beyond Mark Travers (84) to earn a memorable victory for Jesse Marsch’s team, similar to his late winner against Liverpool at Anfield last week.
Sam Greenwood, a second substitution, had earlier scored to make it 3-2 in the 60th minute and eight minutes later assisted Liam Cooper in tying the score with a corner kick. Rodrigo’s early penalty (3) in a thrilling match in West Yorkshire was canceled out by a Marcus Tavernier goal (7), and Bournemouth took a 2-1 lead (19) into halftime thanks to Philip Billing. Three minutes (48) after the break, Dominic Solanke scored his 50th league goal to give the visitors a 3-1 lead. However, Leeds rallied to win their second straight Premier League game. They advance to twelve. Bournemouth fell to 16th place.
Rodrigo’s third-minute penalty gave Leeds a strong start and the lead. Within the first 60 seconds, Marcos Senesi knocked Summerville to the ground in the penalty area, and Rodrigo scored his sixth league goal of the year from the spot. Four minutes later, on their first attempt, Bournemouth equalized. Tavernier sidefooted a shot into the bottom corner while going unmarked after Robin Koch could only head Billing’s cross to the back post.
Tavernier’s shot was stopped by Meslier, but the ball bounced to the Bournemouth winger, who passed it back to Billing, who scored the 2-1 victory for the visitors from just inside the box. Three minutes into the second half, Bournemouth again caught Leeds off guard in transition, increasing their lead. Tavernier was given too much room on the left, and Solanke converted a low cross to make it 3-1 for the visitors. And Leeds was the team who snatched the win. Summerville ran on and scored his third goal of the season as halftime substitute Gnonto drove through the heart of Bournemouth’s worn-out backline.
