Harvey Barnes scored again to help Leicester City produce one of the most comfortable football scores of the weekend in the Premier League. It was another exceptional goal from the Belgian midfielder, who scored another extraordinary goal at Goodison Park to follow up an equally extraordinary performance against Wolves. James Maddison, a Foxes player who continued to shine, discovered Tielemans on the edge of the area right before halftime. He kept the ball under control with his thigh before launching it into the upper left corner. Everton’s carelessness cost them in the end when a Leicester counter resulted in a second goal. Barnes beat Jordan Pickford with a powerful shot after Maddison surged down the left wing and sent a cross into the 18-yard area. The 24-year-old has now scored in each of Leicester’s four victories in the Premier League this year.
The opening 15 minutes at Goodison Park were riveting. Within the first three minutes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall found Patson Daka twice, but the Leicester attacker was unable to score because Pickford saved his second attempt. Calvert-Lewin made an excellent pass to Alex Iwobi at the other end, but the midfielder dragged his shot wide of the far post. After both sides had weathered their respective onslaughts, Maddison shot just wide.
Tielemans scored a stunning goal late in the first half to give Leicester a lead they rightly held going into halftime following a brief interruption caused by fireworks rubbish discovered on the Goodison Park field. Iwobi attempted to put Calvert-Lewin in a one-on-one situation with Ward, but the keeper stuck out his feet to make the stop. Maddison attempted to curl at the hour, but her attempt smacked the post. Up until Barnes sprang up with Leicester’s second goal, which sealed a well-deserved victory, the game appeared to be mostly meandering. In the extra period, Maddison again connected with Barnes, and they might have even added a third, but Pickford stopped the Foxes midfielder.
