Zinedine Zidane back to Real Madrid training session

Football News

For the first time since the coronavirus was contracted, Zinedine Zidane led a Real Madrid training session, while club president Florentino Perez tested positive for COVID-19.

Madrid head coach Zidane was forced to endure a spell of self-isolation, and after the shock 2-1 loss to Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey two weeks ago, he has not been in the dugout.

Los Blancos have since defeated Deportivo Alaves 4-1 and suffered a surprise 2-1 loss in LaLiga against Levante.

Madrid fell to third and lies 10 points ahead of the Atletico Madrid champions, who still have a game in their hands, but Zidane has a full week to prepare for Saturday’s next outing against Huesca.

Sergio Ramos, Lucas Vazquez, Rodrygo, and Federico Valverde were only with the team for part of the session, while Zidane was back on the training pitch.

After testing positive for COVID-19, Dani Carvajal practiced indoors while Nacho Fernandez stayed at home, a fate shared by President Perez of Madrid.

“Real Madrid would like to inform that our president Florentino Perez has tested positive in the COVID-19 tests that he periodically undergoes, although he is not showing any symptoms.” a brief club statement read.
