Despite rumors about a managerial job at Camp Nou, Xavi has confirmed that he maintains frequent contact with newly-elected Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
If Ronald Koeman is fired at the end of the season, Xavi has been listed as a potential replacement.
The 41-year-old has been the manager of Al-Sadd for two years and won his fifth trophy as a manager last month with a 2-0 win over Al-Duhail in the Qatari Cup final.
Xavi is overjoyed with the election results and believes that good times will return to Barcelona after a difficult period for the Catalan club.
“Laporta is a great pal. I’m very familiar with him. He is the most amazing president I have ever met,” Xavi told beIN SPORTS.
“Barca will make a comeback, both in terms of sporting and financial success. There are concerns to be addressed, but you can handle them all. I wish him the best of luck. I’m in contact with him, and I’m very pleased.”
