Trent Alexander-Liverpool Arnold’s right-back hit back at Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, who said his side deserved to win after losing 2-1 to the Reds on Wednesday.
After Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the first half and Son Heung-Min equalized for Spurs minutes later, the defending champions earned all three points through Roberto Firmino’s 90th-minute header.
Mourinho also thought Spurs deserved to win despite having just 24 percent possession and two shots on goal compared to Liverpool’s 11.
“I told him the best team lost and he disagreed, but that’s his opinion.”
Alexander-Arnold was alerted to the comments made by Mourinho, and he replied quickly on Twitter with a post simply saying, “Best team won.”

After the game, Klopp also reacted to Mourinho’s claim, saying he thought the Spurs boss wasn’t serious.
Klopp said of the conversation on BBC Radio 5 Live, “It was not heated at all. He wasn’t happy because he told me the better team lost – and I thought he was joking! But he wasn’t. So that’s it.”
Klopp was told that in the final third, Liverpool had 200 passes compared to 19 for Tottenham, and in answer to the stat, had a subtle dig at his opponents.
Klopp said, “If you ask me now, I can’t remember the 19,” “That’s how it is. It’s fine. Different approaches, different ways to play.”
Klopp had a lot of praise for Spurs, who fell to second, three points behind Liverpool in the first place, after the defeat.
