Manchester United has been struck a major blow as Borussia Dortmund offered a new contract to a valuable young talent Jude Bellingham, while a Chelsea player might reconnect with Maurizio Sarri at Lazio, according to Monday’s transfer rumor.
Man United’s chances of attracting Jude Bellingham to Old Trafford this summer have taken a knock after the teenager signed a new contract.
On Sunday, Bellingham, 17, became England’s youngest-ever international at a major event. Despite his youth, he has established himself as a fixture in the midfield of Borussia Dortmund. He has indeed shown to be a standout player in the Bundesliga, as well as in the Champions League.
Following his departure from Birmingham City in the summer of 2020, United attempted to sign Bellingham. Dortmund, on the other hand, won the competition and signed him to a contract until 2023.
United, on the other hand, is expected to make a fresh play for Bellingham this summer. As a result, they were expected to pay close to £40 million to sign the midfielder.
Dortmund, on the other hand, is keen to keep him out of United’s grasp. As a result, Bild writes, through the Daily Express, that BVB is negotiating a lucrative new four-year contract to frustrate United.
Bellingham’s new contract will nearly treble his income and keep him in the Westfalenstadion until 2025.
Last year, Bellingham detailed why he chose Dortmund over United.
“You know, Man United has a fantastic group. But Man United had no bearing on my decision,” Bellingham told the Daily Telegraph.
“I was so focused and pleased with Dortmund’s attention that this became my first choice. It was Borussia Dortmund for me, and that was the end of it. You know what I mean when you find somewhere that is the finest place to be and you kind of overlook everything else?”
