According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Atalanta is not going to sell Papu Gomez for a free transfer in January and even an Argentinean could start against Roma on Sunday.
Gomez had a dressing room bust-up with Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini in the last three games of Series A who left him on the bench.
The 32-year-old was subbed against Juventus on Wednesday and according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, he might play against Roma on Sunday.
For the sake of the team, Atalanta and their captain have agreed to act wisely, at least until Christmas, the paper suggests. There are now two remaining games before the break, against Roma and Bologna, and the Argentinean will start against Giallorossi, as he has proved to be extremely useful against Juventus for Atalanta.
The relationship with Gasperini remains tense and if the player has to leave the club, Atalanta won’t allow him to do so on a free transfer.
