In the fight for Amadou Diawara, Arsenal was joined by Leicester and West Ham, according to sources. The Gunners and Tottenham were closely aligned with the £ 15 million Roma midfielder, and it is said that the Italians are open to offers.
In the summer, Diawara was close to going to Leicester and Arsenal, but he eventually stayed put. But according to LaRoma42, Roma is now poised to cash in for £ 15m in January. This season, the Guinea international has only played four times for the Serie A outfit. He only moved from Napoli to the Romans last summer in a £ 19.5m transfer.
The Hammers of David Moyes are only said to be involved if Declan Rice leaves in January, which seems less and less likely to fly with the Hammers and to give him a new ‘double money’ agreement. But during the next window, the Foxes are reportedly more likely to make a bid.
Diawara’s agent, Daniele Piraino, was said to be furious at his client’s treatment at the end of September when he was benched for a draw with Juventus.
Diawara was already upset after a mix-up over his age meant that without being registered, he started Roma’s opener at Verona.
Piraino told Tuttomercatoweb.com, that the club forgot to mention him in the squad [at Verona] was a great disappointment for Amadou. The fact that the ‘Diawara Incident’ has been made out to be a disgrace, though he did not enjoy it and the blame is not his own.
“We want clarity on the true role and significance of Amadou within the project of the club.”
