For their treatment of his departure from the club in the summer, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has blasted Paris Saint-Germain.
After eight years, the 36-year-old left the French side as his contract came to an end at Parc Des Princes.
Despite being part of their squad that went all the way to the final of the Champions League, PSG did not give the Brazilian a new contract, although they lost to Bayern Munich at the final hurdle.
Silva claims that Edinson Cavani deserved to show more appreciation for their time and performance at the club, along with Manchester United.
“Never a single thing was proposed to me. They never offered me a single thing; not even, ” Silva said to FourFourTwo, ” Absolutely nothing, which was very upsetting,”
“However, there is something worse than that. They had three months to schedule a goodbye, right during a pandemic, but nothing was achieved.
Man, I haven’t been there for only one season, or for a couple of months—it was an eight-year spell as a captain who picked up a variety of club trophies.
“I deserved much more respect than that. The same thing happened to [Edinson] Cavani. That said, I’m grateful for the things I experienced there. The final bit aside, I was happy and always well treated by everyone.”
Silva decided to join Chelsea and, after the final, agreed to join Frank Lampard’s side, claiming that the Blues word meant more than renewing at the last hour with the French side.
“I told my agent that he could start finding a new club for me, but that he was forbidden to tell me anything until after our last Champions League game. I bumped into [PSG] President Nasser [Al-Khelaifi] in the hotel elevator the morning after the final against Bayern Munich, and he told me that Leo wanted to speak to me again once we were back in Paris.”
