Stuttgart Silas Wamangituka

Stuttgart youngster Silas Wamangituka revealed that he was playing under the wrong name and false age. The 21-year old was named the Bundesliga Rookie of the season in a vote beating Jude Bellingham. Stuttgart is not expecting any sanctions after the revelations. They confirmed that his real name was in fact Silas Katompa Mvumpa while he is 22 years old. Stuttgart was promoted in the 2020/21 Bundesliga season.

“I have lived in constant fear in recent years and was worried about my family in the Congo. It was a very difficult step for me to reveal my story.” Mvumpa said. “I only dared to do this with the support of my new consultants. I realized I should no longer have to be afraid and that we could put everything out on the table. I wouldn’t have dared do this if VfB Stuttgart hadn’t become a second home for me where I feel safe.”

A club statement released on Tuesday explained that the player had been provided with fake papers during his time in Belgium. The agent had put incredible pressure on Stuttgart youngster Silas Wamangituka to use the fake name and age during his time at Anderlecht at the age of 18. Anderlecht had expressed interest in signing the player after his visa expired. The agent allegedly convinced the player that in case he went home to renew his visa, he would never be allowed to enter Europe in the future.
