The government is planning to impose stringent new measures against players in the Premier League as the coronavirus pandemic continues to bite.

Several teams defied the order not to hug while celebrating a goal or victory, despite guidance before the weekend’s fixtures.

In several instances, after the game, entire teams were filmed drinking, dancing, and singing in changing rooms, and that didn’t go down well in Downing Street.

The Daily Star notes that there will be substantial penalties for all players who try to violate the protocols and may even be suspended.

All will be informed of their duties and issued a final notice as to what is expected.

Given that it is assumed that the general public will toe the line, footballers should not be handled differently.

Although scoring a significant goal leads to an adrenaline rush, players will just have to curb their instincts before everything gets back to normal.
