Steven Gerrard tips Jacob Ramsey for England call after double

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard believes that Jacob Ramsey could be in line for an England call-up after a brace against Leeds. He was assisted by new signing Philippe Coutinho on both occasions. Villa failed to protect a two-goal lead as they were forced to settle for a point when Diego Llorente equalized for the visitors in the second half.

“I know the level of the England players, I’ve been around it, and have enough experience to know it’s only a matter of time but let’s all be sensible and keep calm about it,” Steven Gerrard said about Jacob Ramsey. “I want him to make his own headlines with his football. He is a top talent, I’m loving every moment of working with him. He is getting stronger with each game because we’re giving him the platform to express himself. He is in a wonderful place.”

“He’s not following in anyone’s footsteps. Jacob Ramsey is Jacob Ramsey. He will be a terrific player,” he added. “It won’t be long before the whole country is watching him I’m sure. He is right up there let me tell you.”

“We should have killed the game really at 3-1 up. In the second half, I thought we were poor. It was like a basketball game. I think we’re disappointed with a draw,” Ramsey said. “I’m obviously over the moon to get two goals at Villa Park in a big game but we let in two silly goals so I’m still disappointed.”
