Ralph Hassenhuttl has said that Southampton striker Danny Ings may not feature again this season. This could be a big blow to his Euro 2020 hopes. He scored for the 10th time this season before forced to leave the field due to a hamstring injury in a 2-1 loss to Tottenham. The striker has not trained this week and is definitely out for the Leicester game.

“It is not that (much) worse than it looked at first but it’s also that serious that he now misses a few games, I don’t know if he comes back for the last games,” Hasenhuttl said of Ings. “We have Liverpool (on May 8) and then five games in two weeks so we need every player.”

Southampton striker Danny Ings had scored in his latest appearance for England. He scored in a 3-1 win over Wales in October. Ings could not be a part of the latest set of international matches as he was injured.  Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Marcus Rashford, Ollie Watkins, Jadon Sancho, and Mason Greenwood are the attacking options at Gareth Southgate’s disposal.

Ings’ injury is the latest setback for Southampton who is also missing Ryan Bertrand, Oriol Romeu, and Will Smallbone. Bertrand will be out of contract this summer whereas Ings has been reported to want a move away from St. Marys. Hassenhuttl has quashed rumours that the pair are being left out for contractual reasons. “It was definitely an injury and with Ryan Bertrand, it is the same problem; he cannot train for two weeks because he has a calf problem,” said the Austrian. “That’s it. What can I tell you?”
