Real Madrid made Villarreal’s Pau Torres a defensive target for next summer, while Sergio Ramos’ future remains up in the air. For the Bernabeu renovation ahead of 2021/21, defense seems to be an atmosphere. Madrid currently has the central defensive options of Raphael Varane, Eder Militao, and Nacho Fernandez, in addition to Ramos, who turns 35 this year and whose contract expires this summer, although the latter two have played a combined total of just five La Liga games this season.
Reports say that a pre-contract agreement with versatile star David Alaba from Bayern Munich may be reached by Los Blancos.
However, COPE journalist Manolo Lama states that plans for another signing with the goal of Villarreal’s Torres at the back are in progress.
