Former Fifa president Sepp Blatter is in an ‘extreme yet stable’ condition in the hospital. Reports in Switzerland say that the 84-year-old was rushed on Thursday to the hospital. Blatter is not thought to be life-threatening, according to Blick. His daughter Corrina stated that, as she asked for anonymity, he is getting better every day.
She told Blick: “My dad is in the hospital and every day he gets better. He needs time and rest. On behalf of my family, I ask for privacy.”
He was hospitalized with health problems in November 2015 and July 2016 as well.
After he secured the position in 1998, Blatter became the eighth FIFA president. But amid a corruption crisis, he resigned from his post as president in 2015. He was found to have made a “disloyal” payment to Michel Platini of £ 1.6 million.
The Swiss leader is now serving a six-year football suspension for violations of ethics. Yet he has still denied any misconduct.
In 2019, Blatter began legal proceedings against FIFA over his set of watches he left in his office. And the former president, disgraced, also accused the governing body of ‘moral damage.’
During an explosive interview with the BBC, he launched an assault on Fifa chiefs.
“Those are my watches. Give me my watches. For me, it’s significant. I worked in the watch industry and built a collection for myself. They were [at Fifa] for forty-one years. I should have taken them home a long time ago. Why do they fight for these watches? There is no respect, there is no respect by the president [Gianni Infantino],” he said.
