In the 21st round of LaLiga, FC Barcelona won 2:1 over Athletic Bilbao. Leo Messi scored a perfect goal. Ronald Koeman’s team jumped up to 2nd place in the table with the victory.

It was hot already in the 5th minute with Unai Simon’s target. Leo Messi ran into his penalty area and, with a clever shot, tried to lead Barcelona, but the goalkeeper was up to the challenge.

In the 20th minute, the Argentine put the Catalans ahead. He couldn’t do it with more elegance. He scored from just outside the penalty area with a phenomenal free-kick.

One of the defenders was trying to get back in time to block the shot, but the ball dropped behind his back perfectly. The players of Ronald Koeman had the upper hand and were closer to a second target than Athletic was to an equalizer. Ter Stegen had been essentially unemployed.

A strong chance was lost early in the second half by Antoine Griezmann. And the guests equalized minutes later. From the left side of the pitch, Raul Garcia dribbled the ball in and Jordi Alba beat his goalkeeper – helped by Oscar de Marcos.

This turn of events annoyed the hosts. After a strong headshot from Miralem Pjanic, Simon was pressured into a top-class intervention in the 57th minute.

In the 75th minute, Barcelona’s players made their mark. A great pass was made by Oscar Mingueza to Griezmann, who successfully hit the crossbar from a few meters. Ronald Koeman put on an efficient defensive display as the minutes passed.

Barcelona secured its fifth LaLiga match in a row thanks to this and immediately climbed up to 2nd position in the table. However, it lost as many as 10 points to the leading Atletico Madrid.
