Ronald Koeman is not calling for more from Lionel Messi, saying his team-mates in Barcelona have to change. Amongst the veteran stars of Barcelona, Lionel Messi was not. Before winning against Elche on Wednesday, Ronald Koeman called on the coach to step up.

The Barca number 10 definitely could not be doubted after raising his 2021 total to 13 goals in all competitions, most by any player in Europe’s five leagues.

“I don’t mean him when I talk about veterans,” Koeman said, pretending to beinSPORT.

“Many goals continue to be scored by Leo. Others have to make a difference, not Messi.” As he has shown today, he continues to score.

Occasionally, the opposition does not make things go the way you intend. We are human beings. Personality and desire have been shown by the team.

Still last, but now within five points of Atletico Madrid’s LaLiga leaders, Koeman was optimistic that with the much-needed victory, the atmosphere in the Blaugrana camp would change.

Surely, tomorrow will be different after winning today. When you drop two points against Cadiz when it was time to cut those at the top, it is natural [to be upset],” he said.
